Patrick Lyden, President
Patrick Lyden is President and Founder of Lyden Consulting. He brings over 20 years of management and consulting experience in the commercial and government markets, both domestically and internationally. For the past 10 years, Mr. Lyden has served in leadership roles for several mission critical programs at the U.S. Department of Justice and the Department of Homeland Security.
Prior to founding Lyden Consulting, Mr. Lyden held senior management posts including seven years at Scantron Corporation where he held both sales and management positions. As Director for European Operation for Scantron Corporation, Mr. Lyden lived in Switzerland and was responsible for managing and growing Scantron's business in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. His work in the international community exposed him to a wide range of problem solving techniques and solution oriented approaches which helps him deal with the challenges presented in his current position.
Mr. Lyden holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance and Economics from Drexel University.
James (Jim) Angus, Attorney, Senior Consultant
After 31 years of federal service, Mr. Angus retired in 2003 from the United States Department of Justice and joined Lyden Consulting. At the time of his retirement Mr. Angus was Counsel to the Assistant Attorney General of the Civil Rights Division. Mr. Angus served for 15 years as a trial attorney and 16 years as a manager of several CRT sections and INS components. Mr. Angus’ experience in the Civil Rights arena, as a litigator and as a manager, makes him uniquely qualified for the senior position he holds at Lyden Consulting. His years of experience bring wisdom, insight and leadership skills to the organization.
Mr. Angus began his distinguished career in the Civil Rights Division in 1971 as a trial attorney with the Employment Litigation Section. Over the next 15 years he would lead trial teams and expert consultants in the most complex litigation undertaken by the Section. In 1986 he was promoted to Chief, Housing and Civil Enforcement Section and later served as Chief, Employment Litigation Section and Acting Special Counsel, Office of Immigration Related Unfair Employment Practices. Under Assistant Attorney General John Dunne, Mr. Angus served as Acting Deputy Assistant Attorney General, with responsibility for reviewing the work of the Education and Employment Sections. At the request of INS Commissioner Doris Meissner, Mr. Angus assumed the position of Acting Executive Director, Office of Naturalization Operations, now DHS’ United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Mr. Angus earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Nebraska College of Law, is an active member of the District of Columbia Bar Association and an inactive member of the Nebraska Bar Association.
Katherine (Kitty) Knudstrup, Vice President
Ms. Knudstrup joined Lyden Consulting in January of 2000. She holds Bachelor of Science and Masters Degrees from Central Michigan University. Ms. Knudstrup’s management and consulting experience is extensive. She has worked with federal, state and local government as well as private industry since 1979. She has spent the past 12 years working with the federal government providing project management and consulting services in the system integration and biometrics fields. Ms. Knudstrup's responsibilities include planning, coordination and implementation of IAFIS/Biometrics related activities. Ms. Knudstrup worked with former legacy Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) management to develop goals and objectives to meet requirements under the Government Performance Review Act (GPRA) and the Clinger-Cohen Legislation.
From 1987 until 1991 Ms. Knudstrup worked with the University of Maryland, University College as Assistant Director, Senior Instructional Designer. Ms. Knudstrup was responsible for designing, developing and producing computer-based courses and on-line and written course materials. Her responsibilities included developing fiscal tracking systems, writing proposals, and researching special projects. In the Office of Special Programs, she was responsible for marketing an instructional program in the nuclear science field through a distance learning environment, managing financial transactions and contract schedules.
Debrah Parks, Senior Consultant
Ms. Parks is a Senior Consultant with Lyden Consulting and is currently serving as a Coordinator for the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, Application Support Center Program. In this role, Ms. Parks is responsible for assisting in the development of business rules for processes; providing technical and non-technical support to ASC personnel; assisting in the planning, directing the procurement and deployment of electronic equipment to the ASCs; as well as providing support in the coordination of all ASC facility moves, expansions, and upgrades.
Ms. Parks has over 20 years of experience and knowledge in administrative, project management and IT support-related services. Prior to joining the Lyden Consulting team in March 2001, Debbie served as a systems engineer with SAIC where she provided technical lead oversight for the testing and evaluation of legacy-INS Corporate and Enforcement systems. Ms. Parks also brings a wealth of knowledge in the area of in command, control and communications to include emergency action operations gained during her years of service as an operations management officer in the US Air Force.
Ms. Parks earned a Bachelors Degree in Computer Systems and Business from The Ohio University in Athens Ohio.
